This article attempts to present the idea of cultural transaction in the light of Édouard Glissant’s theory of Tout-Monde and his poetics of Relation. Translation becomes a mean to introduce the Otherness to the reader who must accept its part in the reader-writer pact legitimizing the cultural transaction and its aims. As an illustration of this process serves a novel Solibo Magnifique, written by Patrick Chamoiseau in 1988
