The aim of this article is to show the identity and the process of creating a collective memory of a closed community – the convent of Poor Clares in Gniezno, on the basis of an analysis of the content of the obituaries of the nuns (17th–19th c.). Compared to other surviving monastic obituaries, Poor Clares records are distinguished by their wealth of information and the continuity (17th–19th c.). Particularly noteworthy is the obituary of the long-standing prioress Zofia Antonina Niedźwiecka. An edition of her obituary has been prepared in the Appendix. The catalogue of virtues of the Gniezno prioresses corresponds to the models of monastic holiness of that time, as well as to the ideals and virtues of life of the first Poor Clares: Clare, Agnieszka of Prague. The most important were: piety of life, love of sisters, diligence, prudence, and mercy
