The villa by the sea - E1027 - designed by Eileen Gray with the help of her friend Jean Badovici, is recognised as one of the great works of modern architecture. Badovici published plans and photographs of the house is a special number of his review Architecture Vivante in 1929 along with a discursive text and a description of the house. A manuscript of this description exists in the hand of Jean Badovici. Longer and more polemical than the printed text, it provides insights into the thinking of the two architects. This is a transcription and translation of this manuscript with an analytical introduction
