Resumo
This article develops a typology of power and status, differentiating between power derived from formal positions and influence stemming from personal qualities. The authors explore how these forms interact and influence social action, arguing that while formal power structures provide a framework, individual influence and status play a crucial role in shaping actual outcomes. They examine various bases of power, including coercive, remunerative, and normative power, and analyze how these relate to different types of status, such as prestige and esteem. The study emphasizes the dynamic interplay between these elements and their significance for understanding social organization and leadership.
