In this article I will present some reflections about my position as a researcher, developed during my doctoral thesis. After a brief introduction on the question of reflexivity in geography, I will present the objectives and methods of the investigation (a study of the adolescents' first nightlife practices) and explain how the fieldwork has been articulated. I will then explore four dimensions that have had a relevant weight in the research process: my age, my gender identity, my status as a researcher, the fact of being a foreigner. In the conclusions I will try to highlight the importance, for me and the research, of this reflexivity exercise about my position in the field work
