The group rather than the individual is the center of community life in the Lebanon village. The behavior of individuals in various life-situations is mainly an expression of their group patterns. Three main groups predominate in village life-the family, the church, and the community as a whole. Idenification with each of these entitieas is shown by suich indexes as proverbs, swearing expressions, names, addressing others, marriage, and patterns of conflict and co-operation
