This article analyzes the implications of the platformized circulation of an image created by designer Patrick Mulder, who mimicked a Time magazine cover from February 2022. The montage, which associates Vladimir Putin’s face with Hitler’s mustache, circulated widely in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The methodology is grounded in the field of mediatized circulation studies (Braga, 2006, 2015; Verón, 1997, 2014), which consider communication flows in the interplay between production, reception, and recognition. The findings indicate that, although the piece was not created with the intent to mislead, the dynamics of platformization inserted it into the context of information disorder (Wardle & Derakhshan, 2017, 2023), due to the appropriation of graphic and symbolic elements of journalism that convey credibility
