Association between in-prison educational treatment and subsequent criminal behavior was studied by comparing the proportion of nonrecidivists in adjusted control and experimental groups. The hypothesis that educational treatment has no significant association with postrelease recidivism must be rejected. Training for less than six months appears to have no effect on recidivism. Thus men should not be admitted for less than six months of schooling if their admission would require the exclusion of men who can be schooled longer
