The purpose of the article is to analyze the lexico-semantic features of verbal and nominal forms formed from the Indo-European stem *dō-, presented in the text of the ancient Russian chronicle “The Tale of Bygone Years”. Scientific novelty lies in an integrated approach to the description of the phenomena being studied, taking into account data from linguistic research in recent years. The research was carried out using the descriptive-historical method, as well as contextual. The author shows that the analyzed forms, constituting an ordered system, the elements of which, in the course of the history of the Russian language, formed a universal paradigm based on the merging of the two bases DA- and DAYA-/DAVA-, in the text of the analyzed source showed a high level of productivity, while maintaining the stability of the nominative core common root *dō-, also demonstrating such characteristics as polysemy and the presence of semantic syncretism
