The article is devoted to the Dissertation Council for Historical Sciences, established at the Irkutsk State University in the distant military year of 1942. Over the eighty years of its activity, the Council has trained hundreds of scientific and pedagogical personnel of the highest qualification for universities and academic institutions of Irkutsk, the cities of Siberia and the Far East, scientists from Buryatia, Tyva, Yakutia, the Mongolian People's Republic defended the results of their research here
