The generalized data on archaeological sites (mainly of the Bronze and Scythian Ages) in the outskirts of the important complex site of the Bilsk hillfort — the Eastern (Shidne) fortification are presented in the paper. The role and status of the fortification within the sector chosen for the study are determined. A map with archaeological sites around the Eastern (Shidne) fortification was made. The data from the 2013—2024 research was analyzed in particular detail. Cartographic materials with summarized data on archaeological research (test pits, excavations, sections of defensive structures) in this area were prepared. Some summarizing information on the study of the Eastern (Shidne) fortification is presented. The issue of the possible eastern boundary of the Bilsk archaeological complex is considered. The results of reconnaissance surveys (with the making of test pits) within the sector in 2024 are presented. The data on the rediscovered Vorsklynske settlement on the right bank of the Stara Vorskla river are presented. As a result of the research, new important conclusions have been made about the well-known in archaeological science settlement Barvinkova Hora I. Some important data from LIDAR studies of the Eastern (Shidne) fortification and its outskirts are presented. The actual problems of studying the inner territory and defensive structures of the Eastern (Shidne) fortification of the Bilsk hillfort are considered. The topic of fortifications is analyzed extensively. In particular, the number of ancient entrances to the fortification and the arrangement of the defensive line are considered. Based on the processing of the LIDAR survey, the area of the inner territory of the fortification, as well as the total area (including fortifications), is determined. A set of necessary further studies within the sector under consideration is outlined, and promising locations (territories) for this purpose are identified
