This project highlights the importance of ceremonial practices in the Castilian and Aragonese courts at the end of the Late Middle Ages, aiming to promote research on a period of political transition toward the Early Modern Age. The development of newmechanisms for representation and the articulation of monarchical power were some of the pillars that enabled the Catholic Monarchs to carry out their endeavors after a period of civil war and conflicts. Thus, the analysis of courtly sociability provides an opportunity to understand the regularization and officialization of their activities during a key moment in the construction of the Spanish Monarchy. From this perspective, the study of ceremonies during the lives and deaths of monarchs allows us to assess an essential context in the quest to establish a series of precedents tied to subsequent centuries. This essay seeks to gather a historiographical review of some of the most significant spaces, locations, and moments during the reign of Isabel I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, as recipients of a progressive complexity and focus in the field of ceremonial studies
