This paper proposes a study framed in Social History from the point of view of social relationships and the integration in the community of a guild from Madrid in the 18th century: the “prenderos”, secondhand dealers. This investigation highlights a neighborhood community -the one established in the Rastro of Madrid in this period- just like the neighborhood and the solidarity, understood as the main mechanisms that the most disadvantaged groups develop to survive. The main objective is to study the effects of the introduction and integration in the community of this guild, characterized by some social and economic dynamics that differed from the ones that prevailed in this area of the city. This paper is understood as a case study of the social situation in Madrid in the 18th century
