OBJECTIVE: To critically and reflexively analyze the role of Complementary and Integrative Health Practices (CIHPs) in deconstructing asylum-like practices still present in Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and Drugs (Caps-AD), based on the experience of implementing auriculotherapy in a health service. METHOD: The methodology employed was the systematization of experiences, set in a Caps-AD, the practical field of a multiprofessional residency. The intervention targeted 50 users and was carried out from April 2023 to January 2024. RESULTS: The proposal provided therapeutic responses to users who had previously adhered almost exclusively to pharmacological treatment; patients showed changes in withdrawal-related symptoms, attributing their sense of well-being to auriculotherapy. Furthermore, there was increased acceptance of group therapy and multiprofessional consultations; CIHPs became an important itinerary in the care offered by the service. CONCLUSION: The intervention highlighted CIHPs as a shift in mental health clinical practices, as it transformed the content of Therapeutic Projects (PTS) offered, challenging crystallized therapies. It also intervened in professional agendas, as staff began to consider CIHPs an incorporated resource. In summary, it broadened the perspectives of users and families regarding treatment possibilities beyond abstinence, building a complex outlook on the psychosocial issues of chemical dependency
