Malaysia has had significant effects from the COVID-19 pandemic since the first MCO (Movement Control Order) was put in place in March 2020. SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), such as the use of face masks, hygiene care, and physical distance, have been implemented in all areas, including the economic sector, tourism, services, sports, the religious sector, and entertainment. Although the SOPs’ compliance is still debatable, it is evident that they have altered Malaysian society’s way of life since the populace is being pressured to embrace and adapt to the new standards in order to stop the virus’s spread. In fact, societal development during the COVID-19 era may be seen as a brand-new custom (Urf) followed across the Islamic world. The problem is that these new adjustments brought on by the implementation of the numerous SOPs for virus prevention are meant to improve religion, health, the economy, and education, among other things. This study emphasizes two main objectives: explaining social change caused by COVID-19 in Malaysia and analyzing the relationship between social change and the parameters of maqāsid Ul-sharīʿah (the excessive persistence of Sharīʿah) in each new practice. It does this by employing phenomenal methodologies or using a phenomenological methodology. In conclusion, it should be highlighted that the current social shift must be in accordance with maqāsid Ul-sharīʿah particularly when addressing religious issues
