The aim of this contribution is to analyse the link between literature and the culture of water, the latter being an essential element of Nature; specifically, we will focus on natural disasters and how they are linked to specific geographical areas. With an educational intention based on the Sustainable Development Goals, a review will be made of different real spaces to which a fictional story is associated; all of this with the aim of raising awareness among citizens. The conclusion reached corresponds to the need to train people in geographical, cartographic and literary knowledge so that they are aware of the need to preserve water as a common good and to respect the environment so as not to be devastated by natural disasters resulting from human technological intervention
