Media and new information technologies are a challenge today in various contexts, including legal ones. Information security and security in the Internet are of particular importance. They affect basic values such as freedom of speech and media pluralism, and in a broader sense, the quality of democracy and human rights in general. Law in the discussed area is adopted in various systems, but due to the specificity of the problem, supranational regulations are the most effective. Currently, the most important regulation is adopted in the European Union. Although it applies to member states, it may be an inspiration for other systems. It seems that in the future, legislation in the discussed area will be deepened, especially due to the development of new media and the Internet, and the applicable regulations will be subject to constant verification and confrontation with real needs
