The subject of this article is the relationships in the field of modern genomic technologies, which can give rise to such a negative phenomenon as genetic discrimination. The article analyzes how the development of modern technologies in biology and medicine affects the changes in social relations in the labor sphere, the field of insurance, sports, and other areas of public life where genetic discrimination may arise. The rapid pace of changes related to new technologies presents society and the state with the challenges of countering new risks that arise in this context. Ensuring equality and non-discrimination in all areas of social relations is an important task for the state, which must be implemented by enshrining the necessary permissions and prohibitions in national legislation. General scientific methods of analysis and synthesis were used in writing the article, which allowed for the identification of the essential characteristics of such a phenomenon as genetic discrimination. Through comparative and interpretive methods, the legal approaches to its prohibition at the international level and in the legislation of individual countries were analyzed. The author concludes that genetic discrimination can manifest both explicitly and in hidden or indirect forms, in various areas of public life and is essentially a heterogeneous phenomenon. Effective legal counteraction requires the development of appropriate measures across various branches of legislation—civil, labor, administrative, informational, medical, and others. Additionally, research is needed to clarify whether genetic discrimination is a distinct form of discrimination with its own characteristics and countermeasures, or whether it is similar to the discrimination faced by people with disabilities or chronic illnesses. An important aspect of using genetic data is the issue of ensuring an appropriate balance between protecting individual rights and safeguarding public interests, such as crime control and immigration, ensuring national security, and facilitating the search for missing persons. To prevent the emergence of new forms of genetic discrimination, the improvement of legislation aimed at its prevention should occur in conjunction with the development of legislation regulating the creation and use of modern genetic technologies
