This article presents a reflection on the possible powers of images based on the mural Do Orun ao Aiye: Afrika Elementar, produced by artists Nathê Ferreira, Adelson Boris and Emerson Crazy, in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2021. It aims to investigate the discursive potentials of this artistic production as a gesture of cultural resistance against a racialized regime of representation. The bibliographic review is based on studies of Visual Culture in dialogue with the thought of Antônio Bispo dos Santos (1959-2023) and Sandra Benites. It concludes that images conceived from the perspective of countercolonization can converge with diversity in the interlocution of past and future of a circular knowledge, germinating trust and recognition in the care of ancestry
