From the Industrial Revolution onwards, humanity began a process of technological development with a focus on economic growth, generating profits proportional to the increase in inequalities. In this context, elderly people, immersed in developmental logic, experience the extension of their life expectancy, at the same time as they face challenges of inclusion and appreciation, which emerge as urgent social issues. This study seeks to analyze the perception of values, feelings and emotions associated with the image of aging, based on the distinction between the systemic world and the world of life, according to Jürgen Habermas' Theory of Communicative Action. To this end, an online survey was carried out, based on a reflection exercise proposed by writer and psychologist Maria Celia de Abreu in her book Velhice: uma nova landscape (2017). The research involved the participation of 61 random and anonymous people, who participated by answering an online questionnaire on social networks. The results indicated that the interviewees reveal that they maintain respect and acceptance when they project aging in their imagination, linking activities, clothing, smell and colors to a peaceful phase of life that refers to the elderly person linked exclusively to the world of life
