The review examines the collective monograph “The Arrow of Time” in the mass consciousness of Russians: assessments of the past, judgments about the present, ideas about the future”, issued by the publishing house “The Whole World” in 2024. The publication of this collective monograph is timed to coincide with an important milestone date — the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which was celebrated on February 8, 2024. The author’s team of the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences carried out a comprehensive in-depth analysis of the mass consciousness of the representatives of various social and professional groups of Russian society in a fundamental collective monograph. It should be noted that over the past decade, a significant number of works have appeared in the Russian scientific literature exploring various aspects of this issue. It is important to understand that socio-historical knowledge, including collective memory of the past, is a central element of the value system shared by representatives of any community. In turn, this memory is closely intertwined not only with their individual (personal) values, but also with their political and social views. In other words, the past serves as a kind of starting point from which contemporaries compare current events and phenomena. They strive to understand the processes taking place in the country and the world as part of a historical path, as a result of patterns that determine the course of history.
