After the exciting moment when I first discovered an unapologetically feminist zine in Austria in 1998, I found not only a number of feminist artists in the German‐speaking area who create magazines as an alternative outlet to the male‐dominated gallery system but also a vibrant international network of feminist zinesters. Yet, most research and most Web sites focused on Anglo‐American zines. Hence, in 2001 I decided to create Grrrl Zine Network, a resource site for international feminist zines, distributors, and DIY projects. Today, the site lists and links more than two thousand feminist zines from forty‐three countries in fifteen languages, as well as information on zine distributors, resources, research, writings, and interviews. This article considers all that I have learned from reading, archiving, and researching all these zines over the past decade
