The vital importance of water has been instrumental in the formation of various cults related to it. Rituals related to water have emerged in pagan beliefs and monotheistic religions, and water itself has turned into a set of symbols. Water, which is seen as a source of healing, cleaning, purification and life, has also been associated with various living things. One of them is the lion. Especially in architectural designs related to water, the lion is often used as a decoration or a functional element. In this article, first of all, it was tried to determine what kind of a connection was established between the lion and water, its historical process and its reflection on architecture. Secondly, an evaluation was made on the rainwater spout in the shape of a lion’s head in the Geyikli Baba Complex, a shrine in the Gürsu District of Bursa. What makes this example valuable is that it is a spolia. For this reason, this transformation of the rainwater spout in question was also examined in this study
