The aim of the study is to reveal the role expectations of the couples who are preparing for marriage in Ankara regarding their domestic roles before marriage. A quantitative research was conducted on the family structure of new couples, along with the changing aspects of the family as a social institution. The sample of the study was randomly selected among the couples who were preparing to get married in Ankara. The "Marriage Role Expectation Scale" developed by Köksal and İlhan, consisting of forty questions, was used in the study. Marriage role expectations were evaluated on two factors: traditionalist and egalitarian. The research was carried out in November and December of 2022 and a questionnaire was applied to 481 participants in the study. The survey was applied in the central districts of Ankara, and the provincial districts were excluded from the research. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS 24 program.
