The following paper intends to demonstrate some aspects in which the historiographical field could benefit from more dialogue with the works of Palestinian critic Edward Said. Using his book, Orientalism (1996), as the main reference, what we intend to show is that in the structure of this work there are some thoughts that demand that historians think about the limits of their own discipline. For that matter, we present here three reflexive axes: the theoretical concepts developed by Edward Said; its impact on the historiography and, finally, how the recent changes in the historiographical field open for new interpretations around Saidian legacy
