L’éclosion des jeux de pari-sportif à Dakar, un phénomène social aux enjeux et caractéristiques multiples

The dynamism of parifoot in the Dakar region is a phenomenon that has given rise to debate. Indeed, this one which is so much defamed by morality and religion makes its extensions in the Senegalese society. It is in this context that this article allows to highlight the profile of actors who engage in practice in order to understand the perceptions and representations that are made around the practice of play. The instance of Premier Bet de Colobane being the appropriate framework for this research given the importance it occupies in parifoot in Dakar. A qualitative survey was used to focus the analysis on the individual perceptions and representations of the players involved in the bet. In this wake, the plan of this article is based on three main axes that testify to the profiling of players engaged in parifoot, the perceptions of players and non-players of this activity and the social representations that result from it.
