This paper analyzes the resettlement process of displaced populations within the framework of the Emergency Recovery and Resilience Project in Saint-Louis (Senegal). The study examines and compares the socio-economic characteristics of displaced people before and after displacement, as well as the mechanisms for implementing resettlement. The results of the study show that the participatory and integrative approach adopted has favored the adherence of the populations, but challenges remain in terms of equity in compensation and preservation of living conditions. The project has succeeded in effectively managing complaints and delivering prompt compensation. However, the transition to smaller plots and the difficulty of maintaining certain economic activities have created vulnerability among some of those affected. The study highlights the importance of a holistic approach that takes into account the socioeconomic and cultural dimensions of involuntary resettlement, as well as the need for long-term monitoring to evaluate and adjust the strategies put in place.
