The special cases of the functioning of the particle aan ‘that is, exactly’, which is very frequent and actively used in the oral speech of Tuvan native speakers, are considered. The research material was examples of dialogic speech from the texts of fiction. Our observations on Tuvan colloquial speech were also involved in the study. The use of aan is due to the presence of presuppositions: the speaker uses a particle, referring to information that the addressee also owns to some extent. This particle is a means of expressing a topic that resumes in conversation. The structure of such statements is characterized by the presence of demonstrative pronouns, pronominal words or adverbs that directly or indirectly indicate the subject of conversation, serve to reintroduce them into the context, to remind them if, in the context of the narrative, attention to these subjects was temporarily lost
