In Tunisia, women have long had their place in the country's intellectual debates and have had a presence on the institutional and juridical level thanks to public politics favorable to women's rights and a militant feminism that has helped them win other battles. Since 2011, the feminine condition has been under threat, and it is becoming more and more difficult for women to access the public sphere and to express their citizenship through politics, corporal expressions, and artistic production or via the vindication of individual rights. Different experiences prove that the history of the relationship between sexes is undergoing a critical phase. This article brings forward examples that show there has been a paradoxical evolution regarding power structures between sexes. In the aftermath of the revolution, new kind of responses are arising, not always free of controversy, which hold potential for future gender relations
