Work is an enduring human activity that is usually separated temporally and spatially from other activities. It includes interaction with objects (humans and nonhumans). Work is located in different sectoral contexts (agriculture, industry, services), institutional contexts (e.g. domestic or capitalistic mode of production), and technological contexts (tool, machine, high tech) which can be analyzed from a structural or a cultural perspective. Today, capitalistic work exists in a global context. It includes permanently employed wage laborers with a separation between work and life but also precarious workers where the boundary between work and life becomes blurred, as it was in many preindustrial, noncapitalist forms of work
