The aim of this study was to examine the impact of the concept map strategy on developing grammatical understanding and attitudes among ninth-grade female students in Ma’an, Jordan. The research population consisted of ninth-grade female students at Atika Bint Abdul Muttalib Elementary School. A quasi-experimental research design was employed to achieve the study objectives and answer its questions. The sample included two groups: an experimental group of 20 students and a control group of 20 students. A pre-test was administered to both groups to ensure their equivalence. After the instructional intervention, a post-test was conducted for both groups. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups in favor of the experimental group, which learned the topic of al-Badal (Substitution) and its types and rules through concept maps, compared to the control group that studied the same content using traditional teaching methods. The findings also indicated that students demonstrated generally positive attitudes toward the use of concept maps, with an average score of 3.87. Based on these results, the study recommended integrating concept maps into grammar instruction and curriculum design due to their organized structure and sequential presentation of grammatical concepts, which help facilitate student understanding.
