The peer-reviewed dictionary was prepared by a team of researchers and linguists from the Udmurt Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Udmurt State University. The creation of a new spelling dictionary of the Udmurt language is due to a number of reasons, the main of which is the enrichment of the Udmurt language in recent decades with new words, for which spelling rules were not always suitable. The published work consists of three main parts. The spelling part of the dictionary covers the main issues of spelling, including the specifics of the use of uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as the features of the formation of complex words. In general, the number of newly developed and expanded spelling rules exceeds 20 points. The punctuation part of this work is a useful tool for working with texts in the Udmurt language, explaining the basic principles of punctuation marks in sentences of varying complexity. The dictionary of the publication has 55,000 words and phrases, compared with the previous equivalent, increased by 25,000 units. Thus, the new spelling dictionary of the Udmurt language is an indispensable tool for teachers, students, as well as for anyone who strives to use the Udmurt language competently and accurately.
