A Culture of Faith is the first national study of congregations in Canada. In a nation where church involvement is waning, Sam Reimer and Michael Wilkinson focus on Canada's most institutionally resilient stream of Christianity. They state, “While evangelical Protestants only make up about 10 percent of the population, they account for approximately one-third of the nearly 30,000 congregations in Canada” (12). Their central objective is to describe evangelical Protestant congregations while accounting for congregational, denominational, and societal demographics; congregational priorities and programs; and denominational and congregational leadership, organizational, and budget realities. The authors effectively accomplish this goal by turning to several preexisting Canadian and American surveys, as well as face-to-face and telephone interviews with approximately 650 denominational leaders, lead pastors, and youth and children's pastors in five evangelical traditions: Pentecostal, Reformed, Mennonite, Holiness, and Baptist. Variations of church size, location, and ethnic composition are all accounted for in the study, which are a welcomed strength.
