In this article, we approach the soundscape of the Ejiwajegi (or Kadiwéu) of Mato Grosso do Sul from two fundamental premises: the centrality of the sonic domain for understanding the relations between humans and nonhumans; the inadequacy of anthropological instruments, in order to understand the essential traits and implications that characterize this domain. It is precisely in the attempt to define the contours of an Amerindian alterethnomusicology, with its non-anthropocentric vision of music, that we will call here zoomusicology, a semiotic science focused on the study of sound communication between animals. In addition to helping us better understand the mechanisms and functions of a trans-specific musical language, zoomusicology would do that from ontological premises that have never been so close to those that animate Amerindian acoustic landscapes. In the last part of the text, we will show how the search for this universal language necessarily ends up reviving the debate about a musical thought
