Resumo
Pursuing a macro sociological approach, this contribution examines the great transformation of Turkey around rising market hegemony and increasing impact of global forces. Throughout the paper, I show how the new orientation is consolidating the power of globalist classes, creating conspicuous consumption as a marker of class distinctions, and prioritizing global networks over domestic structures at the expense of sustaining domestic inequalities in Turkey.
