The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between ordinal position (mother side) in the family and involvement in high and low dangerous sports among 351 elite athletes (261 male and 90 female) belonging to 17 sports. The data was gathered through a structured questionnaire. The analysis of the results led to the following conclusions: A majority of third and first born participated in high and low dangerous sports respectively. There was no significant influence of birth order on involvement in high and low dangerous sports by the male athletes like their female counterparts
