This essay explores connections among a group of six anthologies produced in fifteenth-century London or its environs. These manuscripts share a common stock of material which is selected and reordered according to the particular context of each volume; two manuscripts, John Rylands MS English 85 and Cambridge, Trinity College MS O.1.74 are considered in some detail. The reuse of vernacular devotional texts in this group of manuscripts, and evidence of the volumes' circulation and ownership, demonstrate the cross-over of such reading material between lay and religious in the fifteenth century.
