In this chapter I discuss various conceptions of value and the relations they have to nature. In the first part I discuss drives and values, before turning to, in the second part, conceptions of affects and their relations to drives. In the final, and most original, part of the chapter I consider the status of value and therein I suggest that for reasons inherent in Nietzsche’s philosophical there can be no answer to the question of what Nietzsche too to be the metaphysical status of value.
