Dans cet article, l'Auteur cherche à mettre en évidence les divergences dans l'analyse de la sécularisation liées aux paradig mes employés par quatre sociologues qui ont fortement influencé les travaux en sociologie des religions. Il compare Berger et Luck mann comme représentants du paradigme basé sur la 'définition sociale' d'une part, et Luhmann et Wilson, comme représentants de l'approche du social comme 'fait social' d'autre part. Après avoir donné une synthèse de leurs études, il décrit l'explication de la sécularisation et son influence sur la religion (tableau 1), ensuite il cherche les points faibles des approches et essaie de démontrer les convergences entre les différentes approches paradigmatiques (tableau 2
