It is widely accepted that the goal of adult education is perspective transformation, or the changing of how someone understands and interacts with the world. Recent work also points to the appropriateness of perspective transformation to theological education. This study evaluates the transformative outcomes of a course offered by Laidlaw College (New Zealand) in partnership with Carey College (University of British Columbia, Canada). The course, Worship and Community, was based on core questions relating to worship: Who is God? What does it mean to be human? How then shall we worship? Because of the unique nature of the course's delivery method, research into the course's transformational outcomes was carried out. The research considered the local facilitator's reflections, with reference to student performance in online forums and assignments; results from King's (2009) Learning Activities Survey; and qualitative interviews with partici-pants. The findings indicate the importance of considering the student context, the effectiveness of core questions in course curricula, design challenges for facilitating perspective transformation, and the difficulties of assessing for transformation. Further comments relating to methodology for investigating perspective transformation and improvements to the specific course are also provided.
