Après une évaluation critique des propositions sur la dégénérescence, l’article met l’accent sur l’idéologie organisationnelle comme élément structurant de la coopérative de production. Cela nous amène à qualifier cette dernière comme un type particulier d’organisation missionnaire, dont il faut analyser les caractéristiques, afin d’identifier les principes et les dispositifs organisationnels qui permettent d’assurer sa pérennité tout en respectant ses principes alternatifs d’organisation, maîtrisant ainsi la tendance vers la dégénérescence.
