This chapter by French theorist Pascal Michon, adapted from his keynote speech for the Rhythm as Pattern and Variation conference organised by the editors at Goldsmiths in 2016, follows the milestones of the recent reawakening of interest in rhythm and rhythmanalysis. Michon presents here rhythm, intended as rhuthmos , as a new paradigm implying diversity of approaches and flexible articulations.
