This chapter argues that the concluding section of the Euthyphro suggests — despite the ostensibly aporetic ending of the dialogue — a positive account of the nature of piety or holiness (hosiotēs), namely that it is identical with virtue as a whole, since holiness is doing what the gods require, and what the gods require of humans is simply that they should be virtuous. The dialogue thus implicitly applies to holiness the doctrine of the unity of the virtues, explicitly maintained in the Protagoras.
