nformation technology ( IT ) standards articulate specifications, metrics, rules, and guidelines about IT, to promote technology interoperability, interchangeability, and compatibility. Standards are developed by both formal and informal standard‐setting bodies, and involve a large number of stakeholders. IT standards exist at the industry; organizational; and individual levels, and address technology; data; and processes.
