Employee attitudes and their measurement using survey methodology continue to be important topics in both the study and practice of management. Because job attitudes relate to important organizational outcomes such as absenteeism, turnover, and performance, their evaluation is used both as an organizational assessment tool and as a critical component of research on antecedents to employee behavior. Attitudinal structure, antecedents, processes, and consequences all play key roles in our understanding of how employees act and react at work. Cross‐cultural and levels‐of‐analysis issues in conceptualization and measurement must also be considered in both practice and research.
