Sexual identity is the way in which an individual chooses to be seen as a sexual being to others. No single definition of the term predominates among clinicians, researchers, or scholars. Sexual identity is variable as a concept and definition across cultures, and emerged largely as a result of Western thinking on sexuality as a whole.
