This book intends to bring together international scholars for a dialogue on the role of international law from a critical perspective. It is about devotion, compassion, and love for international law. It is written in the dark times of the 2020s, to invigorate thinking about global justice and human dignity. It is a tribute to Pål Wrange, Professor of International Law at the Stockholm University Faculty of Law, for his pioneering work in critical scholarship and interest in legal philosophy. This tripartite introduction will reflect on the current state of the international world order, elucidate how Pål Wrange’s work may assist us in understanding where we are heading, and touch upon this book's individual contributions and chapters.
