Hyperspectral remote sensing is one of the most important and effective means of acquiring information about the surface of the Earth. Many countries and institutions have made great efforts in developing both data acquisition spectrometers and data processing algorithms. Hyperspectral science and technology has advanced significantly in the past two decades and already has been successfully applied to many fields. Hyperspectral data have broadband wavelength and very fine spectral resolution, and can provide critical information for material classification, land‐use change detection, and object recognition.
