The “judiciary law of Sempronius (Gracchus)” of 123–122 bce concerns a change in the procedural aspects of the public criminal trial of the Late Roman Republic. By means of the law, “equestrians” were introduced as jurors in this trial. The law should be seen in the broader context of the agrarian reform of the Gracchus brothers, or more generally the struggle between the orders of the populares and the optimates .
