This chapter uses the theoretical framework worked out so far in order to study the class collocation of the state employees. It draws a distinction between capitalist and non-capitalist state activities and shows that the class analysis applies tout court to the agents employed in capitalist state activities. The chapter analyses the particular nature of the non-capitalist state activities and reaches the conclusion that the economic identification of the agents employed by these state activities follows the same lines than those of the agents employed in an unproductive capitalist enterprise. Capital personified has been considered in the form either of the individual or of the global capitalist. The new middle classes will be identifiable with the working class when the global function of capital will have disappeared to make room exclusively for the function of the collective worker. The chapter explicits some of the political implication of the author&s;s theory by setting it against a different approach.
